Safeguard 5% alfalfa-based pelleted wormer that can be mixed with grain or fed straight. Safeguard treats a variety of internal parasites in llamas and alpacas. Available in individual dosage packets (treats 350 Lbs of animal at a double dose), 5 lb., 10 lb., and 25 lb. bag.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FEEDING/DOSING SAFEGUARD (Fenbendazole) MEDICATED PELLETS
General Recommendations for feeding of Safeguard Medicated Pellets to llamas and alpacas: (Always consult your veterinarian for specific dosing instructions for specific parasites).
Feed 2-3 times the dosage by weight as printed on the package. Pellets may be fed straight or as a topdress on daily feed.

Example:
Package says: For 200 pounds of animal, feed .20 pounds of medicated feed. For llamas and alpacas you want to feed 2-3 times this dose (Consult with your veterinarian for the appropriate dosage for your needs). In this instance, per 150 pounds of llama or alpaca you would want to feed .30 to .45 pounds of medicated feed. Each individual packet contains .7 lbs of Safeguard 5% pellets (which would feed one adult llama weighing 350 lbs at double the dose.
*Be sure that each individual animal eats the entire dose.

Always consult with your veterinarian as each type of parasite requires a different treatment protocol...some parasites can be treated with a single dose and some require treatment 3 days in a row.
